Since 2015, the Netherlands Patent Office has provided the option of paying annual and procedural fees electronically and monitoring the status of patent applications in
MyPage. When MyPage was introduced, it was decided that the documents included in MyPage would also be sent by post for the foreseeable future. MyPage has since grown into a well-functioning and reliable application. Many users have indicated that they prefer to receive the documents digitally only.
Optimising and further professionalising electronic services is a high priority at the Netherlands Patent Office. Electronic administrative communications offer significant advantages, such as greater ease of use, cost savings and a reduction in administrative workload.
Now that MyPage is a stable application and offices have gained sufficient experience in using it, the Netherlands Patent Office has contacted a number of users who still receive documents by post. These conversations revealed that they have no objection to receiving documents digitally only.
Based on these positive responses, the Netherlands Patent Office has taken the decision that, with effect from 1 April 2026, documents made available on MyPage will no longer be sent by post.
Until that date you can make arrangements in your administration accordingly.
Exception
The Netherlands Patent Office will still send the following documents by post:
All other documents will only be sent to you via MyPage.
Notification
To ensure that you are always informed when the Netherlands Patent Office uploads new documents to MyPage, we strongly recommend that you enable the email notification option. This feature will automatically send you an email whenever the Netherlands Patent Office uploads new documents to MyPage.
The notification will be sent to one e-mail address per organisation. The main user can define which e-mail address the notifications are sent to and change this address if necessary. The notification e-mail will contain the patent number (application number) and the type of correspondence.
Chapter 13.2 of the MyPage manual explains how to set up this function.
