NL Online filing at the Dutch Intellectual Property Office The Dutch Intellectual Property Office (hereafter NL IPO) offers online services that allow you to create and to file patents electronically, as well as to create and send other patent-related documents electronically to the NL IPO.
The online services offered by the NL IPO use a software package developed by the European Patent Office (hereafter EPO) called « electronic On Line Filing » (eOLF) via a Dutch server as well as the smartcards issued by the EPO in order to ensure the security of online filing. In this context the NL IPO proposes the following three online filing services:
- the filing of a Dutch patent application and subsequently filed documents;
- the filing of documents relating to the validation of a European patent in The Netherlands;
- the filling of a PCT application and subsequently filed documents
How to access the online filing services offered by the NL IPO?
You can apply for the smartcard at the EPO. You must activate the smartcard before use and then register for the Netherlands. Read more about:
• applying at the EPO
• activating the smartcard
• registering for the Netherlands (Note: this link only works with a properly connected and working smartcard.)
Follow the instructions from the EPO when you receive the smartcard. We recommend that you first try the operation in demo mode before submitting an application.
The smartcard also gives you access to MyPage.
Do you still have questions?
If you have problems installing or using the software, please contact EPO.
If, after installing the update, you encounter any problems submitting applications and follow-up mail via Online Filing at the Netherlands Patent Office, please send a message to firstname.lastname@example.org.
